Quick Time X free screen capture tool

So i recently bought teh Snow Leopard upgrade to Mac OSX and Have been playing with some of the new features. I discovered the ability to make screen recordings in the new Quick Time X and quickly decided to make a video about how to do it! It’s about time that there was a free ability to record the screen right out of the box on a computer and Quick Time has the answer! it creates really good quality captures and very simply to use, idea for simple screen captures and instructional videos. Film of the week – Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy

This week, Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy is under the Dude in a drama spot light! :D

Whats it about?

It’s about a news anchorman in San Diego, but not any ordenary anchorman, this is the Legendary Rob Burgundy! With his trusty news team Brian Fantana, Brick Tamland, and Champ Kind they dominate the male… Dominated news world until they have to deal with an old wooden ship called Diversity! Veronica Cornignstone joins the news team and makes her way to becoming First female anchor on network news shocking the current news team and ultimately leading to Rons demise. But all is well when Veronica finds herself surrounded by bears and Ron is reinstated to report the news!

Why is it so special?

This film is so well written, the jokes mature with age, slap stick scenes aren’t thrown in your face they are subtly triggered with seemingly sensible pretense that draws you in.  Stating the obvious has never seemed so cool. Overly emotional acting gives the characters a child like attitude to what they do making them easy to relate to, everyone has been a child, and on a base level, we all wish the world could be so simple to live it like a child.

Who’s in it?

Will Farrel - Ron Burgundy

Christina Applegate – Victoria Corningstone

Paul Rudd – Brian Fantana

Steve Carell – Brick Tamland

David Keochner – Champ Kind

Film of the week: District 9

This week I’m looking to a more modern film, one only recently released in fact (well here in the UK at least). District 9, all I knew about this film is that it was si-fi, CGI and full of action. I was pleasantly surprised when that’s not exactly what it was. Read the rest of this entry »

Top 10 Nu/New metal music videos

Welcome to my top 10 New metal videos. Today I’m going through the genera of new and “Nu” metal to find some awesome videos that define the genera. I’ve taken videos for their iconic image of a new metal band as well as for having some originality. A lot of new metal videos tend to be of the band playing, a cool effect happening and a skate board. But some of them have their own plots and stories to tell. I prefer those kind of videos myself but also the band playing video can connect with fans a lot which makes the watching compelling. Sometimes… You just wana see they goin’ crazy!

Green screen, Blue Screen what’s the difference?

When I first heard about this kind of thing it was all blue screen and then more recently I heard about them using green screen instead. But why? Is green screen better or what?

What is it for?

Well Blue and Green screens are used to key out video. You shoot video in front of a blue or green screen so that you can cut out that colour from your video and have an invisible background which you can replace with anything you like. Making it seem like your subject was in the place of the background image all along!

What’s the difference?
One is green, one is blue. Read the rest of this entry »
