This is the last in my short series of text animation tutorials for Adobe After Effects. In this video I show you how to use the Skew animator to make text seem elastic and cartoonish. I think on it’s own skew can look a bit boring and amateurish but used with the other effects I’ve shown you it looks really cool and stylish. Leave a comment to let me know what you think or if you’ve have a go hop over to my YouTube page and post it up as a video response!

Hi, I’m Adam from dude in a drama.com. Today I will be finishing off my text tutorial series with simple text animators by showing you how to use the Skew animator. This will add a very simple effect by skewing the text to make it seem more elastic. Combined with the effects we have the skew tool looks really effective at bringing the text alive.
As we did before click the arrow next to the add button on the Animator one layer to bring up pop up menu and then select Skew. This will add the skew layer with the other animators we have added.
You can play with the skew and skew axis to find the effect you like but I am going to set the skew are 70 and the skew axis at 150 degrees. This makes the text seem to bounce and stretch up into place like bouncy cartoon text.I’ve been Adam from Dude in a drama.com and I’ve just shown you how to add the skew effect in Adobe After Effects to make your text seem more elastic.
Lost? Confused? Check out the start of the series here.
